I AM FOR YOU! – PASTOR J.E OKON

For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown:” – Ezekiel 36:9.

When difficulties come to our families’ lives, we sometimes feel as if the world is against us, that maybe God is even against us.

But His words to us in this month of February is reassuring, “l am for you, and l will come and help you”.

He is our advocate and our friend. We can trust Him to be for us when family members face unemployment, hard times in school, misunderstanding from friends, incurable illnesses, or painful relationships.

Ask God to help you this month and always with whatever difficult circumstance you or your family is facing. Trust that He is for you.

He will come and help you this month because HE IS FOR YOU, AMEN.

VOWS. (1st Samuel 10:12-17, 42.)

David promised a loyalty to Jonathan that went far beyond traditional friendship. He extended unconditional loyàlty even to future generations of Saul’s household.

To seal this vow, David and Jonathan swore an oath of friendship. David went to great personal expense to make good on this view when, years later go sought out and took Mephibosheth, the soul surviving member of Saul’s family(2 Sam.9).

Not many people today take their vows as seriously as David did. Self-interest, rather than Sacrifice governs most relationships.

When have you kept a family promise that inconvenienced you? What other sacrifice are you willing to make for your family and friends — and their families?

Let us follow David’s example of loyalty.

JESUS THE TEENAGER

The Bible has very little to say, at least in volume, about Jesus’ late adolescence, and early childhood. 2:41-52, however, contains some insights into Jesus’ life between His twelfth birthday and His emergence into adulthood at thirty years of age.

We often ask questions only on our hearts:

What does God expect us to accomplish with our teenagers?

What is a job well done?

What does an ideal young adult look like?

Luke 2:52 sums it up; “Jesus grew both tall and wise, and was loved by God and man.” Jesus grew physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially. His life was in balance.

The tendency of parents to care most about “spiritual matters” splits life into two artificial pieces.

Actually, spirituality cannot take place in a vacuum. We are not disconnected “souls” but total people. As parents, we are responsible to help our children see that all areas of life are God’s concern and that the development of each is important.

TRENDSETTERS! Micah 1:13

The city of Lachish was the first city in the southern Kingdom (Judah) to follow the Northern kingdom (Israel) in the practice of idolatry. When it comes to sin, they were trendsetters.

As a family, are you getting a standard of righteousness or simply following the trend around you?

Following trends may seem harmless in matters of clothing style and popular games, but children sometimes, don’t know where to draw the line between the harmless and the sinful.

Families and individual Christians who follow the trend make two mistakes.

(1). They damage their relationship with God by not placing Him first.

(2) They may be a bad example to others.

How we live as a family does matter to God and others, therefore CHECK THAT TREND.

GOD BLESS YOU AND THE FAMILY.
